About Joy

With nearly 40 years in the business, Joy Miley is one of the most seasoned agents in the area.

Licensed in 1986, Joy’s own experience of searching for a home for herself led to her finding the career of her dreams.

“I was married and we were looking for a house to buy as a family, and through those tours, I just said, ‘This is something I’d like to do. It truly came from my first home-buying experience.”

No surprise, the first home Joy purchased was in her hometown of Crestline.

“I’ve lived there my whole life,” Joy said proudly. “I grew up in Crestline, went to school there and just love the town. I served on council for five years. I was the acting mayor for a period. I’m known in the community for volunteering and my work as an agent.”

And even with nearly four decades of experience, Joy enjoys real estate just as much today as she did when she started.

“I love what I do. I’m a workaholic. You’ll find me after hours on many days in an office with clients. I’m all in,” she said. “That’s actually why I recently also bought a place in Florida. I don’t know how to relax. But I love helping people. I love helping them into a new home or out of one they want to sell. I love helping growing families get more space. I just really love all of it.”

When she’s not assisting buyers and sellers, Joy spends time working on her rental properties and with family and friends.

“I have a very soft heart for older people. One of my very best friends is 96 years old. I’ve spent a lot of time with older folks and learning from them. It’s truly one of my passions. Older people love old school face-to-face time when selling and buying and I’m very devoted to that.”

She also enjoys playing “lots of golf” and actually plays on a women’s traveling golf league, as well as many charity outings.

“I love to volunteer,” she said. “I’m always going to be the first person to step up and help somebody else or get involved.”

Joy proudly shared that about 75% of her business comes from her hometown.

“Nothing in this business was ever handed to me. I’ve always worked hard to go above and beyond,” she said. “I could write a book of all the crazy things that have happened over the years. I’ve fallen through the floor, crawled through a lot of windows and dog doors. I’ve been chased by turkeys and many dogs. It’s been an adventure and a challenge. But I’m very dedicated. I’m very organized. I’m very neat, and I’m very detailed. When I work with someone, they get the full 110%. I always answer my phone.”

Joy said she’ll spend part of her time in Florida and part of her time in Ohio.

“I’m excited to have my snowbird house, but then always the ability to come home and help clients,” she said.
