Multiple moves in the last several years not only inspired Chelsey Jones to become a real estate agent but also made her very excited to finally plant roots in Mansfield.

“My husband is in the Marine Corps, so we had been moving every two to four years,” Chelsey said. “We really got tired of paying other people’s rent, so we started buying fixer-uppers when we moved. I really started enjoying the process and really found that my experience was enhanced or made more difficult depending on who we had as an agent. This really made me interested in becoming an agent myself. I’ve also always had a passion for architecture so it just seemed to be an amazing fit.”

While their family of five has only lived in Ohio for three months, Chelsey excitedly shared that this is her husband’s last duty station.

“He retires in four years, so we finally get to settle down and plant roots,” she said. “My kids are really excited to stay in the same school. I think a lot of people have some misinterpretations of the military. My husband has been on active duty and has been to 18 different countries, so there’s a great sense of pride, but also just a sense of normalcy. Moving as much as we’ve had to has definitely made our family closer. We have a really strong bond. When we move, we’ve always still had each other and it’s just made us closer.”

The family bought a historical home on Brinkerhoff Avenue and Chelsey has enjoyed fixing it up.

“I really love the strong sense of community here,” she said. “There are so many different community programs and different downtown activities and street fairs. We both have Jeeps, and we both love camping and hiking, so we’re really enjoying the state parks.”

Chelsey also enjoys kayaking, sewing, theater, crafting, and home renovation.

And now she can’t wait to get started in real estate. Chelsey just received her Associate’s Degree in real estate and is now working on her Bachelor’s in Real Estate Portfolio Management and Construction Management with a minor in Marketing.

“Being through the process of moving so many times, I really understand what an impact your agent can make,” she said. “If you choose the one who is right for you, it can make the process not only easy but educational. I’d really love to pass that knowledge and experience on to others.”

While she looked into numerous area brokerages, Chelsey said Sluss made sense for her.

“This is my career and I really want to invest my time into a place that would invest time in me,” she said. “From your social media and community involvement to then meeting you guys and hearing testimonials from others, I knew this was the place for me.”
