A Bucyrus native, top agent Matthew Hoover has been a REALTOR since 2014.

“Real estate is super rewarding,” he said. “When you get people who come thank you because the process was so stressful and you were able to take care of everything, ease their minds and talk them off the ledge, or you just helped them find the home of their dreams and they’re thrilled…those moments are the ones I like most. I also love just being able to serve my community.”

When asked what he attributes to his success, Matthew humbly said being a “people person,” his attention to detail and his responsiveness – always making himself available and keeping clients well informed throughout the process.

We were impressed with Matthew from the first moment we met, which went so far beyond his professionalism. His instincts are spot on, and the genuine relationships he works hard to build – not only with his clients but with others in the industry – are also clearly large factors to his success. In addition to being highly charismatic and intelligent, Matthew is truly the full package.

With the majority of his transactions taking place in his hometown of Bucyrus, few know the area better.

He proudly shared that the city is not only where he was born and raised, but where nearly his entire family also reside.

“I just like that it’s a small community where everybody knows everybody,” Matthew said. “I’m not a big city guy. And just knowing the area as well as I do, I can really help people with resources – if they need a handyman, if they just need to know where to get their oil changed. I know those people well.”

Matthew has also been a teacher since 1998, with 22 years at Bucyrus City Schools, a year at Ashland and the most recent four years at Colonel Crawford.

“School wasn’t easy for me personally and I honestly didn’t like it very much,” he said. “I had a couple really great teachers along the way who inspired me, and my mom was an educator, so becoming a teacher was a very natural thing for me to do.”

Today, Matthew teaches reading and science in the sixth grade.

“I’ve actually sold a lot of houses to my students,” Matthew said. “That’s one of the coolest parts is to help them, encourage them and provide this kind of support and guidance now when it comes to real estate.”

When he’s not working, Matthew and his wife, Anne, of 25 years, spend a lot of time at school functions for their four kids, ages 20, 14 and two near-13 year old twins. All attend Colonel Crawford with their oldest daughter attending The Ohio State University for Communications.

Matthew is also an accomplished singer/songwriter.

“I got my first band in middle school and played all through college,” he said, noting that before children entered the picture, he was traveling the country for a period performing.

“I love music,” he said. “I was just in the recording studio yesterday.”

With Tom Petty as an influencer, Matthew’s music is all original and described it as “Rock Americana.”

Matthew also enjoys the outdoors, from hunting with his boys and off-roading on ATVs, his free time can often be found in the woods.

“I have a lot going on but my biggest focus is my family,” Matthew said. “My wife is the love of my life and my kids keep us busy.”
