About Doug

Doug Holmes was drawn to real estate years ago, long before making it his full time focus. Early on, he helped manage rental properties, collecting rent, handling maintenance, and seeing firsthand how the right home can create opportunity. That hands-on experience sparked an interest that stayed with him.

After more than 14 years at Benjamin Steel, Doug chose to lean fully into real estate and dedicate himself to serving clients with the same work ethic and precision that defined his career. He brings a steady temperament, strong attention to detail, and a practical, fact driven approach to every conversation.

“If I’m going to build someone’s trust, I need to know the facts that go along with it,” Doug said. “But I also want to understand why they’re making the move.”

As a father of four who raised his family locally, Doug understands the importance of good schools, strong communities, and finding the right fit for the next chapter. He enjoys working with families and first time buyers, especially those looking for single family homes, and takes pride in listening closely to what matters most to them.

“I enjoy meeting with people and learning what’s behind the decision,” he said. “Whether it’s their first home or a transition to something new, I like understanding their story and where they’re headed.”

Doug grew up around the Mansfield and Lucas area and appreciates the growth happening throughout the region, particularly the revitalization of downtown Mansfield and the family oriented atmosphere of surrounding communities.

Outside of real estate, Doug and his wife enjoy kayaking at Clear Fork, camping, mushroom hunting, and spending time on their property near Malabar Farm. He is also an experienced welder and fabricator, often creating custom projects and seasonal pieces in his garage.

Choosing Sluss Realty was a natural step.
