About Charlie
With nearly two decades of engineering experience and a lifelong curiosity about how things work, Charlie Edwards brings a valuable perspective to real estate. As an agent with Sluss Realty, he combines extensive technical knowledge with a genuine enthusiasm for helping buyers and sellers discover the possibilities in a property.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Charlie holds degrees in electronic engineering, physics and electrical engineering, including a master’s degree. His career has taken him through manufacturing, industrial facilities and commercial buildings, where he’s worked with everything from HVAC systems to building automation. That experience gives him a practical understanding of the systems behind a property’s walls and the improvements that can make a difference.
His interest in buildings goes well beyond their mechanics. Charlie has always been fascinated by architecture, the history of older properties and the potential they hold.
“I’ll drive by an old building that’s been sitting there for ten years, and I can think of ten different things to do with that building,” Charlie shares.
That enthusiasm extends naturally into commercial real estate, where his experience with larger, more complex buildings offers a particularly useful perspective. He’s equally interested in residential real estate, drawing on his own experiences building a home, buying and selling property and completing home improvements.
For Charlie, helping someone find the right property means understanding their priorities and giving them the information to make a decision that works for them. He appreciates that buyers have different needs, and that the right fit isn’t always obvious at first.
“I’m not a pushy person,” Charlie explains, reflecting his preference for helping people explore their options rather than pressuring them toward a decision.
Charlie’s curiosity has also shaped a career that includes work in manufacturing, healthcare and building automation, along with earning a patent. He enjoys the opportunity to tackle new challenges, and that same interest in continued learning helped draw him to Sluss Realty after working with agent Courtney Bradley on a personal real estate transaction.
“I want to learn from people,” Charlie shares. “Even if you’re ten years down the road, you’re still going to have to learn something from somebody.”
Originally from Big Prairie in Holmes County, Charlie now lives in Mansfield with his wife. He appreciates the area’s balance of everyday conveniences and small-community feel. Outside of work, he enjoys riding his motorcycle, camping, computer programming, cryptogram puzzles and spending time with their dogs.
For Charlie, real estate is an opportunity to put his experience, curiosity and problem-solving skills to work in a new way. Whether helping someone explore a home’s possibilities or evaluate a commercial property, he’s enthusiastic about bringing practical insight and a thoughtful approach to every real estate experience.
