About David

David Dowler’s approach to real estate is rooted in calm, clarity, and trust. After nearly three decades working as a corrections officer, including serving as a crisis negotiator and coordinating crisis intervention training, David understands how to guide people through high-stress situations with patience and perspective. That experience now shapes how he works with buyers and sellers.

Real estate became a natural next step through David’s own experiences as a homeowner. Over the years, buying and selling homes showed him how quickly the process can become overwhelming without the right guidance, and how meaningful it is when an agent truly listens.

“I want to understand what people need before we ever start looking,” David said. “That’s how you keep the process focused and avoid unnecessary stress.”

His background in corrections has taught him the importance of listening first, staying steady when emotions run high, and being honest even when the answer is not the easiest one. In real estate, that means helping clients make informed decisions that fit not just today, but what comes next.

Trust is at the center of how David works. He believes clients should feel confident that their agent is looking out for their best interest, not chasing a transaction.

“I don’t spin people,” he said. “I want them to know I’m being straight with them.”

David chose Sluss Realty because the environment felt like the right fit for how he works and where he is headed.

“I met Grant and Jami, and I felt comfortable right away,” he said. “That told me everything I needed to know.”

A Lexington graduate who has called the Mansfield area home since the late 1980s, David appreciates the character and variety of the region and enjoys helping clients navigate neighborhoods that offer very different lifestyles within just a short drive.

Outside of real estate, David enjoys spending time with his family, music and live concerts, family camping, and traveling to historic sites across Ohio with his wife and daughter.

For David, real estate is not about pressure or volume. It is about guiding people through an important moment with honesty, steady support, and respect for the weight of the decision they are making.
